The Simplest Way To Drink More Water

Good hydration is key to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Water really is a miracle worker… It’s key for regulating body temperature, maintaining proper brain function, flushing out waste and toxins from your body, protects tissues, spinal cord and joints, aids in digestion, maintains satiety levels and amongst multiple other benefits… helps improve mood.

There are many things you can do to stay hydrated. I even have a blogpost all about it, which you can read here if you want to! But the point of this post really is to highlight the single easiest way you can ensure you stay hydrated throughout the day every day while also helping the planet. And that wonderful, yet undoubtably simple way is to have a reusable, eco-friendly water bottle.

If you follow my instagram and the stories I post, you will know I always have a water bottle with me wherever I go. And I’ve had a lot of them- I tend to change them out every couple of years, just because they get old and beaten up. When we moved from the UK, I cleared out tons of unused and old items and gave my old water bottle to charity.

Now that we are in The Netherlands, I bought one for Jonas and one for myself the other week and I am absolutely in love! There are tons to choose from – metal ones, BPA-Free plastic ones, glass ones, trendy, printed or solid colored ones. The choices are endless… But this time around I decided to choose the Dopper water bottles, as they are of Dutch design, which I thought would be very appropriate. They are also really cool, since they can be used as a traditional water bottle but they also have the option of unscrewing the top of the bottle and drinking your water from a glass!

The one I got is a BPA-Free, Dishwasher Safe plastic one in white 450ml, while for Jonas, I picked up the 580ml black metal one, so that he can use it both as a water bottle as well as a thermos for his coffee or tea in the morning.

A staggering 8 million tonnes of plastic end up in the world’s oceans every year and a big proportion of that comes from single-use plastic bottles, which can easily be swapped out by a multi-use bottle. So the next time you think about buying a bottle of water from the grocery store, think about getting a multi-use one you can carry around with you everywhere. You won’t only be helping out a bit with saving the planet, but you’ll also have a constant reminder to drink water when you’re at your desk or on the move.
