A Weekend Getaway to Paris!

Hey everyone! So a couple of weeks ago Jonas had an exciting conference he attended with his work in Paris for the week and I joined him during the weekend for a mini getaway. We had been in Paris for a short evening earlier in August, but it was nice to have a longer bit of time there together and explore the city.

We spent 3 days there before taking the train back late Sunday afternoon to Eindhoven and got to see pretty much everything we wanted to apart from the Palace of Versailles, which we weren’t able to get into due to massive queues, rain and not having booked tickets in advance. But, since Eindhoven is not that far, we do plan on taking another trip there before we leave and see the palace inside and out!

On the first day we went exploring and saw the Eiffel Tower, Grand Palais, Les Invalides, Palais Royal, Gallery Lafayette Terrace, Montmartre, Sacre Coeur and Moulin Rouge. In typical French fashion, we enjoyed Foie Gras and Wine as a snack and a Croque Monsieur and Croque Madame as a late lunch to keep us energised for all the walking we were doing.

On the second day, having failed to get into the Palace of Versaille, we returned back to the center of Paris and explored Jardin du Luxembourg, had lunch at the sweetest spot- Le Choupinet where,  I must admit, I had the world’s BEST mashed potatoes and hugged a massive teddy bear. We walked past Notre Dame as we couldn’t get closer to it than viewing it from the bridge and then made our way to Père Lachaise Cemetery.

On our final day in Paris, we explored the Louvre for hours, were we saw the Mona Lisa, Apartments of Napoleon III and many other works of art. After enjoying some more wine, onion soup and our favorite Croque Madame and Monsieur… we headed to Père Lachaise again as the day before we arrived right before it closed. After walking there for a few hours, we headed back to our hotel to collect our bags and made our way to Gare du Nord to take our train to Eindhoven!

It was a short, busy, but very sweet trip to Paris that we both will remember. We even filmed quite a bit of our trip and I uploaded a vlog I put together from the clips on my YouTube channel! I hope you’ll either find the video entertaining and nice to watch, or find some inspiration for your own trip to Paris someday 🙂
