As most of you know, back in the beginning of the summer, Jonas and I went on a 10 day camping trip with our friends to the Scottish Highlands. I have shared quite a few photos from the trip on my Instagram already, but thought it was time for a long overdue blogpost sharing more photos from the trip as well as the road map of our journey.
I had been to Scotland before, but never to the highlands, nor on a camping trip. So you must imagine, how excited I was and how strongly I was looking forward to a holiday that was completely new to me!
We rented a car and our other friend Justas brought his as well, and the 7 of us went on a journey we all loved! 5 of us met up in London and drove up to Lancaster on the first day, where 2 of our other friends joined us for the trip. We then made our way to Glencoe, where we spent our first night, followed by Isle of Skye, Harris & Lewis, hikes up the Old Man of Storr, Glenfinnan Viaduct and Loch Ness. After multiple beautiful evenings by the log-fire and delicious stews made by our friend Aistis, it was a lot more than just a holiday.
I absolutely fell in love with Scotland, its nature and the people there. We also lucked out with the weather, as we only had rainfall on the last day, when we slept by Loch Ness and the other days were pure summer heat and sunshine. If you’ve never been to the highlands, love nature and hikes, want to explore and see loads of goats and sheep- I urge you to go and enjoy wild-camping where you can! I hope the map at the top of this post helps a bit, but if you want more details on the trip or great camping site suggestions, leave a comment below and I can answer any questions you have! 🙂
