A few weeks ago Jonas and I went to the Cosy Club in Guildford. We’ve been there a few times before, but always just for drinks and nibbles or when I was invited to the opening evening and enjoyed some wine and tapas. This time around, however, we were invited for a 3 course meal to try out their varied menu and review the restaurant for all of my lovely readers!
We went on a Friday evening at 7pm, with out bellies empty and waiting to be full of delicious food. Our waitress Lizzie was super friendly and the manager Emma was wonderful as well! We started off with a cocktail each, as we wanted to celebrate the beginning of the weekend. I got the English Rose (Bulldog gin, a splash of lemon juice and rose water, muddled with fresh strawberries and topped with prosecco). It was a wonderful bubbly, girly drink that I must say was surprisingly strong. Jonas got the Earl’s Breakfast which came in a cute little glass milk bottle. I really liked it, however, it was rather sweet and Jonas did swap it out for a red glass of wine later on in the meal. If you like refreshing and sweet drinks, I think you would like this one though!
For a starter, we go out favourite- baked camembert. I don’t think this can ever be done incorrectly- super gooey, delicious and creamy. As we enjoyed our surroundings and the absolutely friendly staff as well as each other’s company- the camembert was devoured quite quickly.
For our mains we chose two opposite dishes. Jonas got the 8oz Rib-Eye Steak (with thick-cut chips, slow roasted tomato and grilled garlic flat mushroom) which came with some chips alongside his glass of red wine, whilst I ordered the Pan Fried Sea Bass (with sugar snap peas, baby corn, red pepper, pak choi, red chilli, toasted cashews and a soy, honey & ginger dressing) with a side of sweet-potato fries. I’ve got to say my fish was absolutely amazing- cooked to perfection; flaky and delicious whilst the baby vegetables were nice and crunchy. The sauce was a tad bit too salty, however, it was still very delicious! Jonas said his steak was very nice as well- definitely a good option for those meat lovers!
Although we were very full by the end of our mains, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to try out their dessert selection. I chose the Peach Melba (Caramelised peach, vanilla ice cream, raspberry sauce and almond brittle), which was very sweet and if you are a sugar fan you will enjoy this! I wanted a bit more strawberries and less sauce, however, it was still very nice. Jonas got the Salted Caramel Cheesecake (with butterscotch sauce and sweet & salty popcorn) and this was absolutely amazing! It looked cute too with the popcorn on top.
Overall, we love the Cosy Club as we’ve been there a few times already for drinks, however, it was nice to try out their full menu! If you are looking for a place that has a beautiful and unique interior, a cosy atmosphere (no pun intended), then the Cosy club is definitely the place to go in Guildford. We didn’t order any of the tapas when we were invited for the review, but if you go- make sure to get a selection to share at your table, as I think they were incredible as well!
