It’s the drink of the summer. The bright, vibrant and refreshing orange cocktail that has gained popularity in recent years. Most of you may have seen it on my blog before, or enjoyed it yourselves. Yes, I’m talking about Aperol Spritz!
Originating from Italy, Aperol is an infusion of herbs and roots with two of its most distinctive flavours being oranges and rhubarb. Paired with ice, beautiful bubbly Prosecco and a splash of soda water- it’s the perfect Aperitif enjoyed by many on a Friday evening with some light snacks or an Italian dinner!
Now, it’s super simple to make although restaurants and bars have different ratios that they use. Out of the ones I’ve tried I can safely say that they do differ from place to place not only because of different ratios, but also due to the Prosecco or soda used. However, after trying some at home over the years & doing some research online, apparently the best recipe is below!
Ingredients:
- Aperol
- Prosecco
- Soda water
- Ice
- Orange slice (optional)
Method:
- Fill a glass with some ice.
- Pour in Prosecco and then Aperol in a 50:50 ratio. Pouring the Prosecco first ensures the Aperol doesn’t settle at the bottom of the glass and distributes evenly throughout the drink.
- Top with a splash of soda water, add a slice of orange + a straw!
- Salute- Enjoy! 🙂
