Review: Dominique Ansel Bakery

Hey guys, while I was in NYC I got the chance to go to Dominique Ansel Bakery! I’ve heard all about their amazing cookie shots and cronuts so I knew I must visit it and check out the delicious sweets all of US has been talking about that have started massive food trends!

The bakery was nicely located on Spring Street which was on our way back to time’s square from one world trade center. It was extra convenient as we were all a bit tired and hungry! We approached this cute yellow tent roof and I knew we reached the place I was looking for!

As we arrived about 4pm, they unfortunately didn’t have any cronuts. These are a croissant and donut hybrid! I was so eager to try them out but apparently they are extra popular and are sold out by late morning! Nonetheless we decided to try out some cookie shots and a dessert each- to share!

Jonas chose the Chocolate Eclair, I got the Blackberry Hazelnut Pavlova and Paulius chose the Salted Caramel Eclair. All of them looked absolutely amazing and were very tough to choose when we looked at the display!

We went to sit outside and enjoy these delicious sweets! The cookie shots left a lasting impression- they were shot shaped chocolate chip cookies with a chocolate coating on the inside and some fresh milk inside. As we sipped the milk and bit into the cookie shots we were all extremely delighted. The mix of the milk with the warm cookie that is slowly softening from the milk was amazing! I finished the cookie shot and didn’t even want the dessert anymore!

The Salted Caramel Eclair was very rich and decadent! I liked the large sprinkle of salt on top and Paulius loved it in particular! The Chocolate Eclair was like a traditional one- light and refreshing in the middle with a delicious chocolate coating! The Pavlova was also wonderful- it was a bit too sweet for my liking after the cookie shot, but on it’s own it would have been exquisite with a nice cup of coffee! It came with a blackberry jam and a hazelnut middle- together it was a sugar bomb worth trying!

I’m beyond happy to have gone into this bakery and tried out these delicious treats! I think for all of us, the cookie shots left lasting impressions and are on my list of things to make in the future!

Stay tuned for my next couple of blogposts, which will be all about my NYC adventure and then- Chicago! While you wait, check out my Wisconsin adventure from my first couple of days in the US!

until next time, enjoy!
