This is my second official afternoon tea post, which I am very happy about! My first one was on the Royal Garden Hotel and the next one to come will be about Egerton House Hotel. But for now – I am going to talk about the beautiful Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane. We went there this past weekend with my boyfriend and his family as they were visiting – I posted about the wonderful things I got up to that weekend in my snapshots post, so check it out if you’re interested!
We booked on afternoon tea.co.uk once again and we were not disappointed. The reason Jonas chose this place was due to the location – right next to hyde park and due to the live pianist… Something we loved at the Royal Garden Hotel. Upon arrival at The Park Room we were seated to a big coffee table with a couch and several sofa chairs and were presented with the menu. The area was very beautiful – light, beautiful piano music playing in the background and very busy, yet calm! The big windows on the side of the room made the place seem so open. I loved the atmosphere.
We all chose the traditional afternoon tea – Anna’s tea and a variety of different teas to drink. I chose the blooming Jasmine & Lily tea but was a bit sad to find it arriving in a china tea pot, as I couldn’t see any of the blooming. None-the-less the tea and the entire experience was to die for. The china was pastel green with gold decorations- just like in the photo they have online:
After selecting our teas- which the waiter was very helpful with, we were presented with something we hadn’t had before- a pre-tea refresher. A glass of pineapple, mango and melon to enjoy as we waited for our tiers. This was very wonderful and special, as I mentioned before- something the other places we went to hadn’t offered.
After that the tiers of sandwitches and cakes arrived. The scones came whenever we wanted- to keep them fresh and warm. I was delighted to hear that if we wanted anything else, it will be given to us for free and we can keep asking and asking – something that is always nice to hear when you come for afternoon tea!
There were 7 types of finger sandwiches for each person! Again similarly to the Royal Garden hotel- quite a lot! They ranged from cucumber & cream cheese, salmon, egg, prawn, beef, chicken and my favorite – the traditional ham and cheese. We were lucky and actually got 3 tiers – enough for 6 people and there was only 5 of us!
After we had enjoyed those beautiful sandwiches we asked for the scones. There were plain and raisin scones and strawberry, blackberry and elderberry jams along with a very generous portion of clotted cream.
We then dug into the desserts. We were all quite full from the sandwiches and the scones, but we had to try at least some of them! There was a variety of sweets, but I thoroughly enjoyed the lemon meringue tart and LOVED the pistachio cake. It was amazing!
All of these sweets were astonishing and if I hadn’t been so full I would have tried all of them. I know for a fact that they were amazing since everyone else loved all of the ones they had tried!
Overall, this was by far maybe my favorite afternoon tea that I have had to date. Not only did I have a wonderful time due to the great company, but also because the atmosphere, the food as well as the service- was exquisite.
Jonas and I both said we would come back here any time – hopefully maybe during our anniversary or my birthday. I’m a really looking forward to that! 🙂
Let me know if you have been for afternoon tea at the Grosvenor house hotel or if you are planning to after this post!
I would thoroughly, 100% recommend it!
Hope you enjoyed and speak to you soon!
